Pāpāmoa is a coastal suburb of the Bay of Plenty with a long open beach. Tourism Bay of Plenty describes Pāpāmoa Beach as having about 16 kilometres of beach, with shopping and dining options including Pāpāmoa Plaza and Fashion Island a few blocks back from the beach, and walking tracks up the Pāpāmoa Hills Regional Park (Te Rae-o-Papamoa). The hills were once an elaborate system of Māori pā sites; terracing is still visible on some of the walks.

Statistics NZ’s estimated resident population for the Papamoa Beach statistical area 3 was 37,900 at 30 June 2025 — a much larger residential base than the Western Bay towns on this site.
